Light Vs. Dark
‘Kyrie Eleison’ from William Byrd’s Mass for Four Voices, composed in 1592-3.
The English Renaissance composer born in 1540 took up the job as Organist and Master of the Choristers at Lincoln Cathedral when we was just 24! He composed hundreds of sacred and secular works for voices. This is one of his most famous.
The Greek text ‘Kyrie Eleison’ translates as ‘Lord have mercy’, which we feel is appropriate at this difficult time.
